Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Rain will weaken the snowpack considerably. Keep good distance to avalanche terrain and run out zones for wet avalanches.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Loose snow

Glide avalanches

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Wet snow/melting near the ground

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Monday 23. May 2022

Mountain weather

Monday 23. May 2022

12 mm precipitation, up to 30 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 1900 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Fresh breeze from southeast. 0 °C to 7 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Tuesday 24. May 2022

12-16 mm precipitation. Precipitation as rain. Fresh breeze from southeast. 0 °C to 5 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Unngå opphold under glidesprekker.
